NGC Special Labels and Designations for the 1776-2026-W Enhanced Uncirculated Gold Eagles

On May 28, 2026, the US Mint is releasing the latest gold coin: the 1776-2026-W Enhanced Uncirculated Gold Eagle. The Enhanced Uncirculated finish utilizes both laser-frost, which gives a shiny metallic effect, and laser-finish, which gives a matte look, adding a unique high-contrast look to the coin. The 1776-2026-W Enhanced Uncirculated Gold Eagle has a household order limit of 1 and a product limit of only 6,000.
To complement this exciting release, NGC® is offering a variety of special labels and designations to pair with the new coins. They include the America250™ US Flag Label and the West Point Mint Gold Star Label, as well as the popular NGC Early Releases and First Releases labels and designations.

This is the first year that the US Mint is releasing Enhanced Uncirculated Gold Eagles, which get their special finish from a combination of contrasting frosting and polishing. Previous Enhanced Uncirculated coins released by the US Mint include a 2013-W Silver Eagle and the 10 coins in the 2017-S Mint Set issued for the 225th Anniversary of the US Mint.
The obverse closely resembles Augustus Saint-Gaudens' original design of the Liberty figure. The full-length Liberty with flowing hair shows her holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. In 2021, a new detailed profile of an American eagle was created and introduced for the reverse. It was designed by US Mint Artistic Infusion Program Designer Jennie Norris, who signs certification labels exclusively for NGC. 1776-2026-W Uncirculated Gold Eagles certified with the NGC Jennie Norris Signature Label will be available through select retailers.
The NGC America250™ certification label will be available for several upcoming releases during this year's Semiquincentennial celebrations, including the 1776-2026-W Enhanced Uncirculated Gold Eagle. For coins to qualify for the Early Releases and First Releases designations, NGC must receive submissions within the first 30 days of release.

- Submit coins under the Modern grading tier or higher.
- Coins do not need to be submitted in the US Mint packaging.

Bulk Submissions
NGC’s First Day of Issue designation and labels are available for select bulk submissions only. To qualify for First Day of Issue, coins must be purchased within one day of the first day that a mint makes a new coin issue available for sale and must be received by NGC or an NGC-approved depository within one week of the release date. NGC will require that the submitter provide adequate evidence (including purchase receipts) to demonstrate the date when the coins were purchased.
