Auction Showcases More than 700 NGC-certified Coins from the Bruun Collection

Presented by Stack's Bowers Galleries, the June sale brings the total number of items offered from the elite collection to over 7,000 so far.

An interesting assortment of more than 700 vintage Scandinavian coins, tokens, and medals certified by NGC® is being offered by Stack's Bowers Galleries in an upcoming sale. Bidding is already underway for the June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction - Selections from the L. E. Bruun Collection, which includes Session 1 - Coins of Great Britain and Denmark and Session 2 - Coins of Sweden and Germany, & Medals of Denmark, Sweden and United States. The auction sessions will be held June 9-10, 2026.

A top NGC-certified coin in the auction is a Denmark 1868 NC-RH 2 Rigsdaler graded NGC MS 65 (Session 1, lot 10229), with an estimate of €2,500 to €3,000 (about $2,900 to $3,500). It shows King Christian IX and is one of only 14 examples of this coin in the NGC Census, with none graded higher than this.

This astonishing Scandinavian numismatic collection was assembled by Lars Emil Bruun, a Danish butter and real estate entrepreneur. NGC was selected to certify the collection, encapsulating the coins with a special certification label that highlights their distinguished pedigree. More than 7,000 items have been offered from the collection so far, and high-resolutions images of more than 6,300 of them can be viewed in a searchable gallery at NGCcoin.com/gallery/bruun.

  • a Pomerania 1657 VB Taler graded NGC AU Details (Session 2, lot 11045), with an estimate of €2,500 to €3,000 (about $2,900 to $3,500)
  • a Sweden 1687-dated Silver Medal - Carl XI Visits Sala graded NGC MS 61 (Session 2, lot 11509), with an estimate of €2,500 to €3,000 (about $2,900 to $3,500)
  • a Sweden 1791-dated Silver Medal - Gustav III Return graded NGC AU Details (Session 2, lot 11522), with an estimate of €2,000 to €3,000 (about $2,300 to $3,500)
  • a Sweden 1818 OL Riksdaler graded NGC MS 61 (Session 2, lot 11131), with an estimate of €2,000 to €2,500 (about $2,300 to $2,900)
  • a Sweden 1843/33 AG 2 Ducat graded NGC AU 55 (Session 2, lot 11154), with an estimate of €1,800 to €2,200 (about $2,100 to $2,600)
  • a Denmark 1609 Speciedaler graded NGC XF Details (Session 1, lot 10169), with an estimate of €1,800 to €2,500 (about $2,100 to $2,900)
  • a Denmark 1554 Mark graded NGC XF 45 (Session 1, lot 10149), with an estimate of €1,600 to €2,000 (about $1,900 to $2,300)
  • a Sweden 1602 2 Ore graded NGC XF 45 (Session 2, lot 11025), with an estimate of €1,500 to €2,000 (about $1,700 to $2,300)
  • a Denmark (1080-86) Penny graded NGC XF Details (Session 1, lot 10084), with an estimate of €1,200 to €1,500 (about $1,400 to $1,700)
  • a Denmark 1596 2 Skilling graded NGC VF 30 (Session 1, lot 10161), with an estimate of €1,000 to €1,500 (about $1,200 to $1,700)
  • a Denmark 1754-dated Silver Medal - Vald Lovendal graded NGC MS 63 (Session 2, lot 11450), with an estimate of €1,000 to €1,500 (about $1,200 to $1,700)
