Auction Features Extremely Rare NGC-Certified Coin from South Africa

An ultra-rare gold coin from South Africa that has been certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) is one of the most intriguing lots offered in an auction presented by Schulman b.v. Numismatics. Bidding for Auction 370 is already underway and will conclude on April 12, 2022.
The top NGC-certified lot in the sale is a South Africa 1892 Double Shaft Half Pond graded NGC PF 65 Cameo (lot 63), with an estimate of €50,000 (about $54,700). The Double Shaft refers to the covered wagon depicted on the reverse. The wagon tongue shows two arms protruding from the front, whereas other coins show a single arm. This rare coin is the highest-graded example recorded in the NGC Census.
Other NGC-certified highlights in the sale include:
- a Belgium 1853 Gold 100 Francs Royal Wedding graded NGC AU 58 (lot 16), with an estimate of €10,000 (about $11,000)
- a Netherlands (1582-93) 2 Ducats Ferdinand and Isabella graded NGC MS 60 (lot 148), with an estimate of €10,000 (about $11,000)
- a Netherlands 1642 Zwolle 1/2 Lion Daalder graded NGC MS 64 (lot 155), with an estimate of €10,000 (about $11,000)
- a Netherlands 1807 Kingdom of Holland 50 Stuivers graded NGC MS 64 (lot 189), with an estimate of €8,000 (about $8,800)
- a France 1812(Flag) 5 Francs graded NGC MS 63 (lot 191), with an estimate of €8,000 (about $8,800)
- a France (1625-47) Orange 2 Pistole graded NGC AU 58 (lot 161), with an estimate of €6,000 (about $6,600)
