Una and the Lion Among Several NGC-certified Coins Expected to Achieve Six Figures in Heritage Sale

Hundreds of NGC-certified world coins are being offered in the Central States sale in May.

Several rare world coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) are expected to realize six figures in an upcoming Heritage Auctions sale. Online bidding is currently underway for the Central States World Coins & Ancient Coins Platinum Session and Signature Auction, which will be held May 5-7, 2022.

A top lot is a Great Britain 1839 Una and the Lion 5 Sovereign graded NGC PF 62 Ultra Cameo (lot 30254), with an estimate of $150,000 to $200,000. The obverse displays a portrait of a young Victoria, who became queen in 1837. The reverse features a woman bearing a clear likeness to Victoria leading a lion representing Great Britain.

Other NGC-certified highlights in the sale include:

  • an Austria 1669 Graz 5 Ducat graded NGC MS 64 (lot 30156), with an estimate of $100,000 to $150,000
  • a Germany 1745 PPW Nurnberg 6 Ducat graded NGC MS 60 PL (lot 30209), with an estimate of $80,000 to $120,000
  • a Greece 1870 Gold Zappas Olympics – Class A Victor’s Award graded NGC SP 63 (lot 30269), with an estimate of $80,000 to $100,000
  • a Great Britain 1826 5 Sovereign graded NGC PF 63 Ultra Cameo (lot 30237), with an estimate of $80,000 to $120,000
  • a Russia 1894-dated Gold Death of Alexander III Medal graded NGC MS 62 (lot 30338), with an estimate of $60,000 to $80,000
  • a Great Britain 1826 5 Sovereign graded NGC PF 62 Ultra Cameo (lot 30238), with an estimate of $60,000 to $80,000
  • an Austria 1660 CA Vienna 10 Ducat graded NGC MS 61 (lot 30158), with an estimate of $60,000 to $80,000
  • an Austria 1645 Vienna 10 Ducat graded NGC AU 58 (lot 30155), with an estimate of $50,000 to $75,000
  • an England 1679 5 Guineas graded NGC MS 61 and pedigreed to the Paramount Collection (lot 30225), with an estimate of $50,000 to $75,000
  • a Netherlands 1687 Holland Gold Ducaton graded NGC PF 61 (lot 30314), with an estimate of $50,000 to $70,000

The upcoming Heritage sale also features rare Australian gold coins from The Regent Collection as well as a wide selection of ancient coins, all certified by NGC.
