NGC-certified Centuries-old Shipwreck Coins Showcased in Sedwick Sale

Posted on 4/20/2022

Nearly 100 NGC-certified coins from shipwrecks and the pre-colonial era are offered in a May auction.

More than 800 coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) are featured in a Sedwick’s Treasure, World and US Coin sale (Auction 31) on May 4-6, 2022. Online bidding is already underway for the five sessions, which include many NGC-certified rarities from shipwrecks and the Spanish Colonial America era.

From the historic 1715 Fleet Shipwreck, a Peru 1713L M 8 Escudos graded NGC MS 62 (Session 1, lot 44) is among the leading NGC-certified lots, with an estimate of $20,000 to $40,000. It is encapsulated with an NGC Shipwreck Certification label that includes the important pedigree to the 1715 Fleet, a group of 11 Spanish ships that were lost off the coast of Florida in a hurricane on July 31, 1715.
