Seldom-seen NGC-certified British Crown Leads September Sale

A seldom-seen Great Britain 1834 Proof Crown certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) is the top lot in an upcoming sale presented by St. James’s Auctions. Bidding is currently underway, with the sale ending September 21, 2022.

Graded NGC PF 66 Cameo, the 1834 Crown is the highest graded out of six examples recorded in the NGC Census. It features William IV, who ruled the British Empire from 1830 to 1837. This particular issue is a Proof of Record, meaning a very small number were struck for preservation by museums and other institutions. This scarce rarity (lot 13) has an estimate of £85,000 (about $102,000).

• an 8-piece set of India 1949 Patterns (Silver Rupee to Pice, all Copper-Nickel except for a Brass 2 Anna and Bronze Pice) graded NGC PF 64 to PF 66+ and pedigreed to the Fore Collection (lot 122), with an estimate of £40,000 (about $47,700)
• an 11-piece Great Britain 1887 Proof Set (5 Pounds to Threepence) graded NGC PF 62 to PF 65 (lot 17), with an estimate of £35,000 (about $41,700)
• a Great Britain 2019 “Una and the Lion” £200 graded NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo (lot 125), with an estimate of £20,000 (about $23,800)
• a Switzerland 1925B 100 Francs graded NGC MS 65 (lot 432), with an estimate of £17,500 (about $20,900)
• a Great Britain 1847 Crown graded NGC PF 63 Cameo (lot 25), with an estimate of £17,000 (about $20,300)
• a Great Britain 1863 Sovereign graded NGC AU 58 (lot 343), with an estimate of £15,000 (about $17,900)
