Ten Members of the NGC Team Nominated for Coin World Honor

Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) is proud that 10 of its experts have been selected as nominees for the latest list of Coin World’s Most Influential People in Numismatics. NGC is represented well on the list, with the most ballot entries from any single entity.
An affiliate of the Certified Collectibles Group® (CCG®), NGC is the largest and leading third-party coin certification service in the world. CCG employs more "Top 100" numismatists than any other company, including the following 10 numismatic experts who have been named as nominees for Coin World's 2023 Most Influential list. Mark Salzberg, CCG Chairman
Mark Salzberg, CCG Chairman, is one of the world’s most respected and accomplished numismatists. He is widely credited for his central role in standardizing and promoting the use of today's highly precise coin grading scale. As a key supporter of the hobby for decades, he was recognized by the American Numismatic Association (ANA) as Numismatist of the Year in 2006.
Steven R. Eichenbaum, CCG Chief Executive Officer
Steven R. Eichenbaum has worked to expand the collectibles markets by playing an integral role in virtually all of CCG's major initiatives over the last two decades. Under his leadership, CCG has built on NGC’s success by adding other affiliates, including companies for paper money certification (PMG®), comic book certification (CGC®), sports card certification (CSG®), stamp certification (ASG®) and provenance preservation (CAG®).
Max Spiegel, CCG President
Max Spiegel is President of CCG, promoted in 2020 from the position of Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Since joining CCG in 2010, Spiegel’s work has included enhancing the CCG companies’ service offerings, developing innovative marketing programs for CCG’s customers and expanding CCG’s reach through the latest technologies, membership expansion and greater presence at events around the world.
Andy Salzberg, CCG Executive Vice President
In April 2021, CCG announced Andy Salzberg as Executive Vice President, bringing 11 years of experience as Vice President of Product Development and Digital Marketing at Asset Marketing Services, one of the largest numismatic firms in the world. Salzberg has worked extensively with world mints, major wholesalers, leading retailers, collectors and grading services throughout his professional career.
Rick Montgomery, NGC President and Finalizer
Considered by many to be the coin industry’s greatest authenticator, Rick Montgomery has been a professional grader since 1980 and President of NGC since 2002. During his illustrious career, Montgomery has graded many of the world’s greatest rarities. He co-authored the NGC Grading Guide for Modern US Coins and has written numerous articles for the American Numismatic Association.
Scott Heller, NGC Vice President of Sales
Scott Heller, NGC Vice President of Sales, has worked for NGC for over 28 years. He's been an integral part of NGC's success, leading the development of the popular bulk coin program while cultivating key customer relationships and managing cross-functional operations. Heller's leadership, with an emphasis on customer satisfaction and goodwill, has differentiated NGC from the competition and helped make the company what it is today.
Scott Schechter, NGC Chief Numismatist and Finalizer
Scott Schechter joined NGC in 2005, and is now Chief Numismatist and Finalizer. At NGC, his primary focus is on the certification of world coins. He works with many dealers and auction houses outside the United States, devoting much of his time to authentication, attribution and grading of vintage non-US coinage. He is a co-author of 100 Greatest US Modern Coins, published in 2010.
David Vagi, NGC Ancients Director
David Vagi has studied ancient Greek and Roman coins since 1985. His Coinage and History of the Roman Empire received Book of the Year awards from the Professional Numismatists Guild, Numismatic Literary Guild and International Association of Professional Numismatists. Vagi has written for various numismatic publications and has shared his expertise in an award-winning monthly column for the NGC eNews.
Ben Wengel, Senior Finalizer of World Coins
Ben Wengel's interest in coins began early. After graduating from the University of Tampa, Wengel joined NGC on a full-time basis and has now graded coins for NGC for more than a decade. In 2020, he became Senior Finalizer of World Coins. Based at NGC's headquarters, Wengel has also graded at NGC on-site events in the United States, Germany and China. His collecting interests include silver and gold coins from South and Central America.
Kenneth C. Krah, Finalizer Emeritus
Before coming to NGC, Kenneth C. Krah, Finalizer Emeritus, owned his own coin business in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. A professional numismatist since 1979 and an ANA Life Member, Krah has also taught Advanced US Coin Grading for the ANA and written several articles on English coins. Krah served as Vice President and oversaw the world coin grading program. He is one of the leading experts on world coinage.
