The Sixth Edition, Volume II, is the newest version of the popular Cherrypickers' Guide coin series.

Recently, Whitman Publishing announced that the newest version of the Cherrypickers' Guide to Rare Die Varieties will be released on August 1, 2023. The Sixth Edition, Volume II will debut at the American Numismatic Association (ANA) World's Fair of Money in Pittsburgh, which takes place August 8-12, 2023. The book is currently available for pre-order on Whitman.com and will be available for purchase at the convention. Following the ANA show, the new Cherrypickers' Guide will be made available nationwide at bookstores and online.

Renowned numismatic researcher Bill Fivaz co-authored the new volume alongside fellow professional numismatist Larry Briggs. The pair updated the popular book and coordinated edits, while working in unison with the hobby community for further research, market analysis and photographs.

The newest edition of the Cherrypickers' Guide features over 440 die varieties, with almost 80 brand-new additions to the ongoing series. The Sixth Edition, Volume II, covers Capped Bust and Liberty Seated Half Dimes, Dimes and Quarters; Barber Dimes and Quarters; Mercury Dimes; Roosevelt Dimes; Twenty-cent pieces; Standing Liberty Quarters; and Washington Quarters, which include the State, D.C., Territorial and America the Beautiful series. The Sixth Edition, Volume III is already in the works and has a tentative 2024 release.

Since 1950, Bill Fivaz has been a coin collector, and his decades-long passion for the hobby has earned him recognition as one of the most widely respected experts on numismatic errors and die varieties. He is a former governor of the ANA, a longtime contributor to the Guide Book of United States Coins (commonly known as the "Red Book") and is also an exclusive signer for Numismatic Guaranty Company® as part of NGC's Authentic Hand-Signed Labels program. Alongside the late J.T. Stanton, Fivaz published the first Cherrypickers' Guide in 1990, which created a newfound modern interest in die varieties.

Volume Editor Larry Briggs is a well-known author, dealer and educator within the numismatic community. The former president of the ANA's Authentication Committee, he previously served in the US Air Force and worked for Ford Motor Company before launching his own business in 1978 — Larry Briggs Rare Coins. Briggs specializes in error coins and die varieties, Liberty Seated coinage and early American coppers.
