NGC Special Labels and Designations for the 2023-S Limited Edition Silver Proof Set
Posted on 11/21/2023
On November 28, 2023, the US Mint is releasing the final silver set of the year: the 2023-S Limited Edition Silver Proof Set. This year's silver coin set includes all five 2023 American Women Quarters, a Silver Eagle, a Kennedy Half Dollar and a Roosevelt Dime. The eight-coin set has a product limit of only 50,000. Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) is celebrating the coins’ release by encapsulating them with an attractive label that pays tribute to the city where they were struck, as well as a special designation of Limited Edition Set.
The eight-piece set features the following 99.9% fine silver coins:
- a 2023-S Proof Silver Eagle
- a 2023-S Proof Silver Kennedy Half Dollar
- a 2023-S Proof Silver Edith Kanaka'ole Quarter
- a 2023-S Proof Silver Maria Tallchief Quarter
- a 2023-S Proof Silver Jovita Idar Quarter
- a 2023-S Proof Silver Eleanor Roosevelt Quarter
- a 2023-S Proof Silver Bessie Coleman Quarter
- a 2023-S Proof Silver Roosevelt Dime
The reverse of the Silver Eagle features an eagle with wings spread preparing to land while carrying an oak branch, a design that debuted in 2021. It was sculpted by Michael Gaudioso who signs certification labels exclusively for NGC. Signed labels from this artist are available through select retailers.
For the second consecutive year, a complete set of quarters from the American Women Quarters Program will be a part of this special set. Each reverse features a woman whose legacy helped shape the United States. The quarter recognizing Maria Tallchief was designed by Ben Sowards, the Eleanor Roosevelt Quarter by Don Everhart and the Bessie Coleman Quarter by Chris Costello. Each artist is also part of NGC’s Signature Series program.
