NGC Certifies Large Gold Versions of 2024 Panda and Dragon Coins

Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) recently certified several oversized gold coins from China that demonstrate the ambitious range of modern coinage and NGC's expertise in authentication, grading and encapsulation services. The coins were submitted to NGC by C.S. Wong, a notable Macau collector.
Among these stunning coins is a China 2024 2 Kilogram Gold 20,000 Yuan Lunar Series - Dragon, issued to celebrate the Year of the Dragon this year. The dragon is the only mythical creature among the 12 zodiac animals, and it is considered particularly auspicious. NGC attributed the coin's serial number of 0008, which is also considered lucky in China and other parts of Asia, and graded the coin NGC PF 70 Ultra Cameo. The intrinsic value of 2 kilograms of gold in mid-June 2024 is about $150,000.

NGC also certified a China 2024 Scallop Gold 10,000 Yuan Lunar Series - Dragon, which contains 1 kilogram of gold. Like the 2 Kilogram Dragon coin, this one is also encapsulated in an NGC Oversize Holder. The lunar series and the Panda series are China's most anticipated coin releases annually, with coins available to collectors in a wide array of sizes, metals and designs. NGC also certified a 2024 1 Kilogram Gold 10,000 Yuan Panda, which was pedigreed on the certification label, like the others, as being part of the C.S. Wong Collection. The coin is graded NGC PF 70 Ultra Cameo.

NGC has certified many coins belonging to Mr. Wong, including his large Year of the Rat coins in 2020 and Year of the Ox coins in 2021.
