The possibly unique coin could realize six figures in the auction in Japan.

An extremely rare Spanish coin is among hundreds of world and ancient rarities that are certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) and available in an upcoming Auction World sale. Bidding is already underway for Auction 37, Part 1 & 2, which will take place July 13-14, 2024.

The top NGC-certified coin in the sale is a Spain 1895(95) 5 Pesetas graded NGC SP 62 (Part 2, lot 3877), with a starting price of 15,000,000 JPY (about $93,300). Thought to be struck as a pattern, this superb Spanish silver coin could be unique, according to the auction house. The coin features the bust of a young Alfonso XIII, who became the King of Spain at birth and reigned from 1886 until his death in 1931. This particular rarity is the lone example in the NGC Census.
