Mark Salzberg Signs Exclusive Signature Label Deal with NGC

Posted on 10/22/2024

The longtime chairman of the Certified Collectibles Group is hand-signing special NGC certification labels.

One of the world’s most respected and accomplished numismatists, Mark Salzberg, has agreed to individually hand-sign certification labels exclusively for Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®). Salzberg has worked in the collectibles industry for nearly 40 years, joining NGC in 1988 and helping to grow the company to what it is today: the largest and most trusted third-party grading service in the world.

Salzberg has been a pioneer in the collectibles industry, co-founding the Certified Collectibles Group® (CCG®), which now includes the world’s leading expert and impartial certification services companies for coins, paper money, comic books, trading card games (TCGs), sports cards, non-sports cards, stamps and other collectibles. Together, the CCG companies have certified more than 100 million collectibles.

He was honored by the American Numismatic Society with the 2024 Trustees’ Award for his contributions to the collectibles industry. Previous honors include the American Numismatic Association's Numismatist of the Year in 2006, the ANA Presidential Award in 1998, and being listed three times on the Coin World list of Most Influential People in Numismatics in 2021, 2022 and (with his son, Andy Salzberg) in 2023.

Salzberg has been a key supporter of the hobby for decades. He helped create the US Mint’s H.I.P. Pocket Change Program, designed to educate and spark youth interest in coin collecting. Salzberg also arranged for NGC and Numismatic Conservation Services (NCS) to conserve and encapsulate some of the Smithsonian Institution’s most important rarities.

Salzberg retired from CCG in 2023 and has entered the video game industry by co-founding Nice Gang (nicegang.com), a mobile gaming studio. The flagship title, Eighth Era, is the first video game to reward players with physical collectibles. Nice Gang is the second company in history (following DC Comics) to collaborate with the United States Mint to promote special, limited-edition coins.

Now, Salzberg is continuing his numismatic legacy by partnering with NGC to hand-sign certification labels for qualifying coins.

"I am honored to have my signature among so many other prominent numismatists in collaboration with the NGC Signature Series program," Salzberg said. "I've spent my life promoting numismatics, and I'm excited to continue working with NGC by lending my signature to exclusive coin releases."

Coins certified with the NGC Mark Salzberg Signature label will be available exclusively through Rare Coin Company of America (RARCOA).

Additional NGC labels featuring Mark Salzberg include one for the Mark Salzberg Collection and a signed label for Eighth Era, the groundbreaking new video game from Nice Gang, a mobile gaming studio co-founded by Salzberg in his latest venture. To learn more about Eighth Era, click here.
