SINCONA Offers NGC-certified Rarities, Including Russian and Italian Coins

The auction series on October 22-23 includes many rare NGC-certified world coins, including examples from Germany, Denmark and more.

Seldom-seen rarities from Russia and Italy are among hundreds of coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) in an upcoming auction. Online bidding is already underway for SINCONA’s Auction 93 and Auction 94, scheduled for October 22-23, 2024.

Leading Auction 93 is a Russia 1714 2 Ducats graded NGC VF 30 (lot 1012), with a starting price of 150,000 CHF (about $177,000). The NGC Census lists only two examples of this issue, and this particular example bears Count Emmerich Hutten-Czapski's mark. According to the auction house, this rare coin, which shows Russian Emperor Peter the Great, has only appeared at auction twice in the past 60 years.

Other NGC-certified coins in Auction 93 include:

  • a Russia 1896 25 Roubles graded NGC AU 55 (lot 1279), with a starting price of 30,000 CHF (about $35,000)
  • a Russia 1762CNB Peter III 10 Roubles graded NGC AU Details (lot 1083), with a starting price of 25,000 CHF (about $29,000)
  • a Russia 1768CNB 10 Roubles graded NGC MS 61 (lot 1092), with a starting price of 20,000 CHF (about $26,000)
  • a Russia 1756CNB 10 Roubles graded NGC MS 63 (lot 1071), with a starting price of 15,000 CHF (about $18,000)
  • a Russia (1702) Half Rouble graded NGC XF Details (lot 1001), with a starting price of 10,000 CHF (about $12,000)

Leading Auction 94 is an Italy 1928R VI Gold Oro Prova 20 Lire graded NGC MS 63 (lot 1964), with a starting price of 200,000 CHF (about $235,000). The coin, struck by the mint alongside its silver counterparts, was issued to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the victory in World War I. Unlike the silver coins, it features some unique minting variations, including the addition of ORO PROVA on the reverse, which signifies that it was not intended for general circulation. Only 15 pieces are thought to have been produced, and they were distributed exclusively to high-ranking state officials, according to the auction house.

  • a Germany (1765-90)GCB Regensburg 22 Ducats graded NGC UNC Details (lot 1675), with a starting price of 80,000 CHF (about $94,000)
  • an Italy 1867OM Cherub Head Privy 10 Centesimi - Brussels Mint graded NGC MS 62 BN (lot 1931), with a starting price of 50,000 CHF (about $59,000)
  • a Germany (1745-65) Regensburg 10 Ducats graded NGC MS 62 (lot 1674), with a starting price of 40,000 CHF (about $47,000)
  • an England 1668 Elephant 5 Guineas graded NGC AU 58 and pedigreed to the Koehlmoos Collection (lot 1794), with a starting price of 40,000 CHF (about $47,000)
  • a Denmark 1659 4 Ducats graded NGC UNC Details (lot 1616), with a starting price of 20,000 CHF (about $24,000)
