Spanish Rarities Certified by NGC Offered in Soler y Llach Auction

A rare Spanish coin expected to realize six figures is among dozens of vintage coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) that are being offered in an upcoming three-part sale. Online bidding is already underway for Soler y Llach's Auction 1136, which is being held on November 6-8, 2024.
The centerpiece of the auction is a Spain 1708 Y Segovia 8 Escudos graded NGC MS 65 (lot 159) with a starting price of €125,000 (about $135,000). This rare coin was minted during King Philip V's reign, which lasted for more than 45 years. This is the finer of the mere two examples in the NGC Census. Furthermore, the NGC Census lists more than 900 8 Escudos coins from the time period of 1601 to 1858, and only five are graded higher than this one.

- a Spain 1616 A Segovia 50 Reales graded NGC XF 40 (lot 126) with a starting price of €25,000 (about $27,000)
- a Spain 1888(88) MSM 5 Pesetas graded NGC MS 61 (lot 615) with a starting price of €10,000 (about $10,800)
- a Spain 1871(75) DEM 5 Pesetas graded NGC MS 62+ (lot 514) with a starting price of €2,000 (about $2,200)
- a Great Britain 1902 2 Sovereign graded NGC PF 60 Matte (lot 827) with a starting price of €1,650 (about $1,800)
- a Portugal (1834) 870 Reis Counterstamped on a Spain 8 Reales graded NGC VF 35 (lot 294) with a starting price of €1,500 (about $1,600)
- a Spain 1870(75) DEM 2 Pesetas graded NGC MS 63 (lot 502) with a starting price of €1,500 (about $1,600)
- an Albania 1927V Prince Skanderbeg 20 Franga graded NGC MS 65 (lot 726) with a starting price of €1,300 (about $1,400)
- a Great Britain 1817 Half Sovereign graded NGC MS 61 (lot 810) with a starting price of €950 (about $1,025)
