The obverse portrays a reproduction of the first dollar coin ever struck by the US Mint, which shows a portrait of Lady Liberty facing to the right. Her image is surrounded by 15 stars, representing the 15 states that had ratified the Constitution by 1794. Originally designed by Robert Scot, the US Mint Chief Engraver from 1793 to 1823, this modern anniversary rendition's obverse was resculpted by John P. McGraw.
The coin's reverse also stays faithful to the 1794 original. Resculpted by Eric David Custer, the coin features a laurel wreath surrounding an eagle with spread wings in the center, which is an early predecessor to the American heraldic eagle.
Additionally, NGC will offer exclusive Baltimore Show designations for qualifying coins. These designations are available for coins that are purchased at the Whitman Expo and submitted with the original Mint purchase receipt.
The following designations are available for those submitting their coins to NGC at booth 1031 at the Whitman Winter Expo Show:
First Day - Baltimore designation
Available for coins purchased on the first day of sales at the Whitman Winter Expo Show and submitted to NGC at the show on that same day. The submissions must be accompanied by the original Mint purchase receipt.
First Day of Issue designation

Baltimore Show Releases designation
