PMG-certified Notes with Fancy Serial Numbers Among Top Highlights in Mavin Sale

Hundreds of numismatics rarities that have been certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) or Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) are featured in an upcoming Mavin sale. Online bidding is currently underway for Auction 67, which is set to end on April 12, 2025.
One of the top lots in the sale is a set of 25 Singapore, Monetary Authority ND (2015) 1,000 Dollar notes with fancy serial numbers graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated to PMG 68 Superb Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 216), with an estimate of at least SGD90,000 (about $67,000). The notes include Serial Numbers 1 to 10, Solid-1’s through Solid-9’s and two Ladder notes. These notes are from the Portrait Series, each of which depicts a portrait of Yusof bin Ishak, the first president of Singapore.
Other PMG-certified highlights in the Mavin sale include:
- a lot of 10 Singapore, Board of Commissioners of Currency ND (1984) 1,000 Dollars graded PMG 66 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 177), which has an estimate of at least SGD12,000 (about $8,900)
- a lot of 4 Malaya / British Administration 1941 5 Dollars graded PMG 53 About Uncirculated EPQ to PMG 55 About Uncirculated EPQ (lot 333), which has an estimate of at least SGD6,500 (about $4,800)
- a Straits Settlements / British Administration 1925-29 5 Dollars graded PMG 30 Very Fine (lot 350), which has an estimate of at least SGD4,200 (about $3,100)
- a lot of 4 Singapore, Board of Commissioners of Currency ND (1979) 20 Dollars graded PMG 63 Choice Uncirculated to PMG 65 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 134), which has an estimate of at least SGD3,800 (about $2,800)
- a Singapore, Board of Commissioners of Currency ND (1988) 10 Dollars with a 1 Million Serial Number graded PMG 67 Superb Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 159), which has an estimate of at least SGD3,200 (about $2,300)
- a Singapore, Board of Commissioners of Currency ND (1967) 1 Dollar graded PMG 66 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 101), which has an estimate of at least SGD1,600 (about $1,200)
- a lot of 4 Singapore, Board of Commissioners of Currency ND (1967) 5 Dollars graded PMG 65 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 116), which has an estimate of at least SGD850 (about $600)
- a lot of 2 Malaya / British Administration 1941 50 Cents graded PMG 66 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 328), which has an estimate of at least SGD850 (about $600)
- a Singapore, Board of Commissioners of Currency ND (1976) 10 Dollars with a Serial Number Error graded PMG 25 Very Fine (lot 132), which has an estimate of at least SGD480 (about $350)
- a US 1999 $1 Federal Reserve Note (Philadelphia) with a Butterfly Fold Error graded PMG 50 About Uncirculated EPQ (lot 353), which has an estimate of at least SGD290 (about $200)
Meanwhile, hundreds of NGC-certified coins are also featured in the Mavin sale, including several from the Sinnathuray Family Collection. Among the highlights is an 1840/35.(C) British India, East India Company Rupee graded NGC F 15 and pedigreed to the Sinnathuray Family Collection (lot 556). The obverse of the coin depicts William IV, while the reverse is from an 1840 Rupee with a 40/35 overdate. This rare coin has an estimate of at least SGD4,200 (about $3,100).

- a Straits 1862 Quarter Cent graded NGC MS 62 BN (lot 737), which has an estimate of at least SGD2,600 (about $1,900)
- a Straits 1847 Cent graded NGC MS 63 BN (lot 741), which has an estimate of at least SGD1,900 (about $1,400)
- a Straits 1919 Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 64 (lot 771), which has an estimate of at least SGD1,600 (about $1,200)
- a Great Britain 1819 LIX Crown graded NGC MS 62 (lot 674), which has an estimate of at least SGD1,400 (about $1,050)
- a Mexico 1734MO MF 8 Reales - Milled graded NGC AU Details (lot 705), which has an estimate of at least SGD1,400 (about $1,050)
- a Ceylon 1815 Stiver graded NGC PF 64 BN and pedigreed to the Sinnathuray Family Collection (lot 462), which has an estimate of at least SGD1,200 (about $900)
- a Straits 1900H 50 Cents graded NGC AU 58 and pedigreed to the Sinnathuray Family Collection (lot 620), which has an estimate of at least SGD1,100 (about $820)
- a Straits 1891 50 Cents graded NGC AU 53 (lot 753), which has an estimate of at least SGD1,100 (about $820)
- an Australia 1923 Half Penny graded NGC XF 45 BN and pedigreed to the Sinnathuray Family Collection (lot 401), which has an estimate of at least SGD950 (about $700)
- a Straits 1916B 20 Cents graded NGC MS 64 (lot 768), which has an estimate of at least SGD850 (about $630)
- an Australia 1912 2 Shillings graded NGC AU 58 and pedigreed to the Sinnathuray Family Collection (lot 426), which has an estimate of at least SGD800 (about $600)
- a Hong Kong 1867 Silver Dollar graded NGC AU Details and pedigreed to the Sinnathuray Family Collection (lot 553), which has an estimate of at least SGD800 (about $600)
- a Ceylon 1815 2 Stivers graded NGC Proof Details and pedigreed to the Sinnathuray Family Collection (lot 463), which has an estimate of at least SGD650 (about $480)
