Just as with classic gold coins, modern gold coins can at times develop distracting red spots on the surface. The root of the spots is often in the manufacture of the coin and can make an otherwise beautiful coin arguably less so. The technicians at NCS have developed processes to safely remove these kinds of spots from both modern and classic coins
This Chinese gold 100 Yuan was submitted to NCS to have the unwelcome red spots removed from the obverse. The coin features a design featuring the Year of the Dragon as 1988 was known according to the Chinese Zodiac. Careful conservation by the NCS conservators eradicated the red spots leaving a coin with bright gold surfaces. The coin was graded after conservation all the while taking advantage of the modern special with NCS where grading with NGC and conservation are included in a single fee.
