Canadian Mint’s 25 Cent Glow in the Dark Dinosaur
Posted on 5/21/2012
The Canadian Royal Mint released the Pachyrhinosaurus lakustai dinosaur coin on April 16. The 25 cent coin is the first of a four-coin series of prehistoric creatures that glow-in-the-dark using photo-luminescent technology.
Only 25,000 coins were minted and they sold out quickly. This fun coin features an artist's rendering of a 4-ton dinosaur whose bone fragments were discovered in Alberta in the 1970s. After placing the coin in light for 30-60 seconds, turn off the lights to reveal the dinosaur’s skelton.
