NGC Grades Prominent Doubled Die Reverse 2015-P Homestead Quarters

NGC recently received an interesting submission that included multiple 2015-P Doubled Die Reverse Homestead Quarters. While Doubled Die America the Beautiful Quarters are seen on occasion, most show very minor doubling and are not attributed by NGC. This variety, however, stands out as particularly significant.

John A. Wexler, a variety specialist, has assigned it WDDR-004 and describes it as follows: “Strong doubling from the top of the water pump shows inside window R3.”

This Doubled Die is quite notable and is clearly visible with the naked eye. NGC attributes it on the NGC certification label as “DDR” for Doubled Die Reverse with the VarietyPlus® catalog number, VP-001. VarietyPlus is NGC’s attribution program for US and world coin varieties. A complete list of varieties recognized by NGC is available on the NGC website, NGCcoin.com, under the NGC Research menu.
