Modern Chinese Varieties: 1997 Silver 5 Yuan Silk Road Series

This month’s featured coins are the four coins of the 1997 S5Y Silk Road Series that depict: Banquet Dance, Buddha Statue, Pounding Silk, and Trading Scene (Photos 1-4).

Interestingly, all four of these coins share the same obverse design that can be found with both a low and high date (Photos 5-6).

The low date shows the date placed low against the rim, while the high date is positioned higher up.
