NGC Enlists King L. Chan to be a Senior Consultant

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®) has enlisted renowned Chinese numismatic scholar King L. Chan to be a Senior Consultant. Mr. Chan brings 35 years of experience as a serious researcher of Chinese modern coins to NGC.

Mr. Chan has authored numerous scholarly articles and received a Writer’s Honorary Credential from China Gold Coins, Inc., the government agency that oversees the production of the popular Chinese Panda coins, among others. He has also consulted for and contributed to several important numismatic books, including the China Mint’s Official Catalog of Modern Chinese Precious Metal Coins, the People’s Bank of China’s Multimedia Catalog of Modern Chinese Currency, Arthur L. and Ira S. Friedberg’s Gold Coins of the World and the Chinese version of Peter Anthony’s Gold and Silver Panda Coin Buyer’s Guide, 2nd Edition.

He is currently working on several books of his own, including A Catalog of Chinese Numismatic Show Pandas, A Catalog of Modern Chinese Patterns, A Study of Literature, Promotional Brochures, Certificates and Packaging of Modern Chinese Coinage and An Appreciation of Graded Modern Chinese Coins.

Mr. Chan has conducted many lectures in Hong Kong, China and Mainland China. He was appointed a Numismatic Lecturer by the China Mint at the prestigious Beijing International Coin Exposition and has given speeches at the Shanghai Finance University, the Macau Numismatic Society International Numismatic Convention, numismatic salons in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou and a number of coin shows throughout China.

In addition, Mr. Chan has been interviewed on a variety of numismatic subjects by countless news outlets, including Beijing TV’s Finance Channel and many local newspapers, magazines and television stations.

As a Senior Consultant to NGC, Mr. Chan will serve to expand and enhance the profile of NGC in Mainland China and Hong Kong, China through the publication of scholarly articles and the organization of educational seminars. Mr. Chan will also act as an ambassador for NGC to collectors and dealers in the region.
