NGC-graded Coins Headline Heritage World Coins Auction in August

Posted on 7/31/2018

One of the first coins minted in Mexico City under Spanish rule could be a record-setter.

The top 10 lots in Heritage Auctions' ANA World's Fair of Money World and Ancients Platinum Night Auction (August 17, 2018) have been certified by NGC or NGC Ancients, a testament to NGC's expertise in world and ancient coins. All are estimated to sell for more than $150,000 (USD).

The centerpiece of the auction is a 1536-38MM Mexico 8 Reales from the Isaac Rudman Collection, graded NGC AU 50. This is one of three known specimens of the first crown-sized coins struck in the New World, at the newly opened Mexico City Mint. Its estimate is $500,000 to $800,000, which means it could set a record for highest price realized for a world coin at a Heritage auction.
