NGC-certified Coins from Britain and Elsewhere Highlight October Auction

The Baldwin's of St James's Auction 49 sale is offering high-grade coins from Britain and elsewhere certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®), ranging from the 17th to 20th century. Baldwin’s of St James’s, located in the heart of London, is one of the UK’s most reputable auction houses. Online bidding is now open and ends October 13, 2020.
One of the top lots in the sale is a rare England 1701 5 Guineas with Ornamental Sceptres graded NGC MS 61, with an estimate of £40,000 (about $51,000 USD). The coin features the bust of William III, King of England, Scotland and Ireland from 1689 to 1702.
The 5 Guineas was the largest and most valuable of the gold coins issued during his reign, only attainable by the most affluent in society. They were produced in limited quantities by Sir Isaac Newton, who helped to revitalize the Royal Mint during the reigns of William III and his successors.

- an England 1694/3 2 Guineas graded NGC MS 63, with an estimate of £30,000 (about $38,000 USD)
- an England 1687 5 Guineas graded NGC AU 53, with an estimate of £25,000 (about $32,000 USD)
- an Great Britain 1753 5 Guineas graded NGC AU 58, with an estimate of £25,000 (about $32,000 USD)
- an England 1687 5 Guineas graded NGC AU 55, with an estimate of £20,000 (about $25,400 USD)
- a set of Australia 1934 Proof Florin, Shilling and Threepence, all graded NGC PF 64, and Sixpence, graded NGC PF 65, with an estimate of £17,500 (about $22,300 USD)
- a Switzerland, Zurich 1641 2 Ducats graded NGC AU 55, with an estimate of £8,000 (about $10,200 USD)
- an Austria 1830A Vienna 4 Ducats graded NGC Uncirculated Details, with an estimate of £5,000 (about $6,400 USD)
- a Great Britain 1813 Proof Half Guinea graded NGC PF 64, with an estimate of £4,250 (about $5,410 USD)
- a Great Britain 1813 Guinea graded NGC AU 58, with an estimate of £4,000 (about $5,100 USD)
- a US 1798 Dime graded NGC AU 55, with an estimate of £2,500 (about $3,200 USD)
