NGC Registry Featured Set: USA Walking Liberty Half Set
Posted on 11/10/2020
Adolph’s Weinman’s Walking Liberty Half Dollar is one of the most popular 20th Century US coins and one of the most widely collected half dollar series. This obsession with Lady Liberty is evident, as it’s reflected in the NGC Registry. With eight different Walking Liberty Half Dollar set categories to choose from, there are a remarkable 1,240 sets participating as of today!
This month, we present the colorful and unique Walking Liberty Half short set, The Wonderful World Of COLOR Walker Collection by G.M. Chow Collection.
Despite this series being known for its weak strike, the artistic element is obvious in the flowing lines of Liberty and in the commanding and majestic pose of the bald eagle. A short set is not necessarily difficult to complete, but G.M. Chow has taken the time to carefully compile his set with lovely toners, many with NGC Star and Plus designations, crisp images and unique descriptions for each coin.
Take the time to view his gallery; you will see his “glowing nebula,” his “night sky,” and many others. We appreciate the originality and the thought behind your collection, Mr. Chow. Thank you for sharing your Walkers with the NGC collecting community and thank you for being a loyal NGC member since 2002! We appreciate your ongoing support.
The NGC Registry is a free online platform where collectors register and display their certified coins and can compete against other collectors around the world for recognition and prizes. This popular resource now boasts nearly 17,000 users, 150,000+ registered sets and 1.2 million registered coins. In 2020, the NGC Registry will award more than $25,000 in prizes — a 25% increase over last year! To learn more about the prizes, click here.
Would you like your set to be chosen for a future feature article? 100% completion in a set type is not always feasible. Our team will also feature sets with thoughtful comments and images for all their coins. Perhaps we will choose someone whose set has a personal story behind it or some interesting historical facts. We are looking for those sets where someone has taken the time to make the set unique and a reflection of his/her personal collecting style. It may be your set! Stay tuned.
