NGC-graded Rarity from End of China's Imperial Era Featured in June Auction

An example of China’s renowned Long Whiskered Dragon that is certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®) is a star attraction in an upcoming Heritage Auctions sale. The HKINF World Coins Signature Auction sale features a variety of rare NGC-graded coins from around the world. Online bidding for these rarities has begun, with the sale concluding June 24-25, 2021.

Struck during the final year of imperial rule, a China (1911) Long Whiskered Dragon Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 63 (lot 38098) has an estimate of $300,000 to $350,000. The famous pattern was designed by Luigi Giorgi as the Imperial Era drew to a close. Another NGC-certified (1911) Long Whiskered Dragon Silver Dollar realized an astounding $1.34 million last month.

The sale also features two modern rarities: a China 1989 Dragon & Phoenix Pattern Gold 200 Yuan and a China 1989 Dragon & Phoenix Pattern Silver 20 Yuan, each graded NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo, offered together (lot 38338). The sale of these coins was delayed and their dates were changed to 1990, but a few have been discovered with the original 1989 date. This lot has an estimate of $100,000 to $150,000.

• a China 1904 Hupeh Tael graded NGC MS 62 and pedigreed to the W&B Capital Collection (lot 38171) with an estimate of $60,000 to $80,000
• a China 1904 Hupeh Tael, Small Characters graded NGC MS 63 (lot 38170) with an estimate of $50,000 to $70,000
• a Great Britain 2017 Gold £800 Britannia 30th Anniversary Privy graded NGC 69 Ultra Cameo (lot 38369) with an estimate of $50,000 to $70,000
• a China 1949 Kweichow Bamboo Dollar graded NGC AU 50 (lot 38218) with an estimate of $50,000 to $70,000
• a China 1912 Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 65 (lot 38277) with an estimate of $40,000 to $60,000
• a China 1910 Sinkiang Sar graded NGC AU 55 (lot 38224) with an estimate of $30,000 to $50,000
• a China (1916) Bronze Pattern Cent graded NGC MS 64 BN (lot 38267) with an estimate of $30,000 to $40,000
• a China (1923) Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 63 (lot 38306) with an estimate of $20,000 to $30,000
• a China 1914 Copper Dollar graded NGC AU 58 BN and pedigreed to the Goodman Collection (lot 38286) with an estimate of $20,000 to $25,000
