Rare NGC-Certified Gold Coins from Poland Featured in September Auction

Three modern coins commemorating Polish heroes are offered in the sale.

A triad of modern Polish gold coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®) are being offered in Auction 30, Antykwariat Numizmatyczny Michal Niemczyk’s largest numismatic sale this year. Bidding for the gold coins and other NGC-certified rarities is currently underway, with the sale ending on September 25, 2021.

These beautifully struck commemorative coins pay homage to Polish heroes, including Marszalek Jozef Pilsudski. He is featured on a Poland 1990Z Gold 1 Million Zlotych graded NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo (lot 763) that has a starting price of 150,000 PLN or about $39,000 USD. Pilsudski became Chief of State when Poland regained its independence after World War I.

Another coin with a starting bid of 150,000 PLN ($39,000 USD) is a Poland 1990Z Tadeusz Kosciuszko Gold 1 Million Zlotych. Graded NGC PF 67 Ultra Cameo (lot 764), the coin honors Kosciuszko, a military leader who not only fought key battles for the Poland-Lithuanian commonwealth but was also a Colonel in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War.

Finally, a 1990Z Gold 1 Million Zlotych (lot 765) commemorates Fryderyk Chopin, a famous composer during the Romantic age of music. Chopin wrote over 150 compositions before he died at the young age of 39. Graded NGC PF 65 Ultra Cameo, this coin also has a starting price of 150,000 PLN ($39,000 USD).

  • A Poland 1809M Danzig Silver Pattern 1/5 Gulden graded NGC MS 61 (lot 720), with a starting price of 50,000 PLN (about $13,000 USD)

  • a Poland 1586 Danzig Ducat graded NGC MS 62 (lot 172), with a starting price of 20,000 PLN (about $5,200 USD)
  • a Poland 1660 DL Danzig Ducat graded NGC UNC Details (lot 255), with a starting price of 20,000 PLN (about $5,200 USD)
  • an 1854 Liberty Head Double Eagle with Large Date graded NGC AU 50 (lot 674), with a starting price of 20,000 PLN (about $5,200 USD)
