Extremely Rare NGC-certified 1831 Proof Quarter Offered in October Sale

There is much excitement over an extremely rare 1831 Capped Bust Proof Quarter certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) that is being offered in an upcoming Heritage Auction sale. This silver issue is among over 300 NGC-graded coins in the Long Beach Expo US Coins Signature Auction #1334. Online bidding has already begun, with the sale wrapping up October 7-10, 2021.
The 1831 Capped Bust Quarter graded NGC PF 66 (lot 3497) is one of the earliest Proof pieces of US coinage. Minted from 1831 to 1838, Proof examples were only produced for presentation purposes or on demand for prestigious collectors, and thus are very scarce. This particular example possesses beautiful toning, and it is of the small letters variety, shown on the reverse’s legend. Bidding for it has already approached six figures more than a week before the sale.
