Spectacular Swiss Rarity Among NGC-graded Highlights in Numismatica Genevensis Sale

More than 250 world coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) are being offered in a sale by Switzerland-based Numismatica Genevensis SA. The group spans more than 2,000 years, from ancient coins through modern, and encompasses issues from Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North Africa. Online bidding has already begun for Auction 14, which takes place on November 15-16, 2021.

The top NGC-certified coin in the sale is an extremely rare Switzerland 1886B 5 Francs graded NGC MS 64 (lot 395). The coin features on its obverse Helvetia, the personification of Switzerland, seated against a background of mountains. It has a starting price of CHF 200,000 (about $218,000 USD).

Another top coin in the sale is a Portugal, Lisbon (1489-95) Justo graded NGC MS 63 (lot 377) that pays tribute to King John II. His rule from 1481 to 1495 was linked to economic expansion paired with global exploration. The Justo owes its name to the legend on the coin: IVSTVS VT PALMA FLOREBIT (from Psalms 92:12: "The just, like the palm tree, will flower"). This coin has a starting price of CHF 150,000 (about $163,000 USD)
