Peter Anthony: The 2005 100 Yuan 1/10 oz. platinum Panda is, at least for now, the end of the line for Pandas struck in platinum. At 1/10 oz. it’s bigger than the 2003 and 2004 platinum Pandas. The coin shares the design of an adult and cub Panda with other 2005 Pandas. As 1/10 oz. platinum Pandas go the 2005 generally sells for about the same price as the 2002 but is harder to find. This coin grades very well; hardly anything gets less than a PF69 and there are quite a few NGC-graded PF70s. This coin is not always well struck, though. Platinum is a much harder metal than silver or gold and small coins like this can be a little mushy.
