Peter Anthony: The 1984 1/4 oz. gold 25 Yuan is the third Panda to be designed by Mr. Chen Jian of the Shanghai Mint. His characteristic elegant lines convey life to the charming bear rolling around with a bamboo branch. The 1984 25 Yuan 1/4 oz. gold Panda isn’t nearly as scarce as the larger 50 Yuan coin. It is even a bit more common than the 100 Yuan coins. Unlike its two larger siblings the 1984 25 Yuan Panda grades well. The average grade is MS-68 and the most common grade is MS-69. This is a coin with a lovely design that deserves a place in any Panda collection.
The 1984 1/4 oz. gold Panda is part of three NGC Registry sets: “Gold 1/4 Ounce Panda, 1982-Date, Mint State," "Gold 1/4 Ounce Panda, 1982-Date, Mint State (Incl. Varieties)." and "Gold 1/4 Ounce Panda, 1982-Date, Mint State and Proof."
