NGC Expert Comments:
Eastern European coinage has been on the rise, and Vippi’s Bulgaria 1879-1908 type set, containing 26 coins and only missing a single common issue, is a showcase of the artistry of Bulgaria’s coinage. The 1894 gold 100 leva with a handsome portrait of Ferdinand I and a finely engraved coat of arms is the key coin with a mintage of 2,500. Few coins survived in mint state and none crack even MS 62, and Vippi’s set is the only one out of six complete or nearly complete sets to contain a mint state example.
