NGC Expert Comments:
Almost every coin collector has a soft spot for the 1976 bicentennial quarter (and a jar full of them), but the US Mint was busy throughout the 1970s however striking various bronze, silver and gold medals commemorating the bicentennial. Bmetoyer was the driving force in creating this set and has almost the entire set of 21 pieces as cataloged by Swoger. These handsome pieces, including several proof medals, commemorative events and luminaries who never got their own coins, commemorative or otherwise, such as Sam Adams, Patrick Henry, and Paul Revere.
