In 1983, a year after the first gold Pandas were struck Learn More...
In 1983, a year after the first gold Pandas were struck, China began to issue a silver version. With a denomination of 10 Yuan the first silver Pandas were a half ounce, but in 1987 the size was doubled to be one ounce. Although other sizes and denominations have been struck over the years, the 10 Yuan silver Panda remains the most popular. Medals have been struck in different years for coin shows or other events.
NGC recognizes Large and Small Date varieties automatically on silver Pandas struck between 1990 and 1999. Several other varieties are also identified, and NGC will attribute a few varieties of silver commemoratives.
The VarietyPlus attribution guide includes images to help identify the different varieties of silver Pandas. For additional information about silver Pandas, visit the NGC Chinese Modern Coin Price Guide.
